Principal Designer (CDM) – Architectural Background

Lev Recruitment is working with a leading professional consultancy to recruit experienced Principal Designers across London, Birmingham and Bristol.

We are seeking experienced Principal Designers with an architectural or architectural technology background. Candidates must have demonstrable experience undertaking Principal Designer duties under the CDM Regulations 2015, together with a strong understanding of architectural design processes and design risk management.

Opportunities are available across all three locations, with positions ranging from experienced Principal Designer level through to Associate Director level.

The Role

You will deliver Principal Designer, CDM and health and safety consultancy services to a varied client base, working closely with design teams, contractors and project stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

• Acting as Principal Designer under the CDM Regulations 2015.

• Advising clients on their statutory CDM duties and responsibilities.

• Integrating health and safety considerations into the design process.

• Reviewing design information and managing foreseeable design risks.

• Working with architects, designers, engineers and contractors.

• Preparing and reviewing Pre-Construction Information, Design Risk Registers and Health & Safety Files.

• Supporting clients with design risk management and regulatory compliance.

• Building strong client relationships and contributing to consultancy services.

• Managing commissions and supporting the development of client relationships, particularly at senior levels.

About You

You will ideally have:

• An architectural, architectural technology or related built environment background.

• Proven experience working as a Principal Designer under CDM Regulations.

• A strong understanding of design and construction processes.

• Knowledge of the RIBA Plan of Work and design risk management.

• Experience within an architectural practice or multidisciplinary consultancy.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• The ability to manage workloads and deliver projects to agreed deadlines.

Relevant professional qualifications and memberships such as APS, RIBA, CIAT, ARB or IOSH are advantageous. A NEBOSH Construction qualification would also be beneficial.
